About us and the role
Avanti House Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Premises Officer to lead the operational management of our school facilities.
This is a pivotal role, ensuring that our school environment is safe, well-maintained, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the school site, including overseeing cleaning staff and contracts, managing maintenance schedules, supporting capital projects, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
You will also be responsible for opening and closing the school, ordering necessary consumables, and working closely with the School Principal and Business Support Manager to meet the operational needs of the school.
This position is ideal for someone with strong facilities management experience, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to lead and support a team.
You will play a key role in maintaining high standards across the school while contributing positively to our thriving school community.

What will you do?
- Oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance and security of the school site, ensuring facilities are safe, clean and compliant with health and safety requirements.
- Line manage caretaking and cleaning staff and contractors, including training, supervision, quality assurance and support with lettings.
- Plan and deliver effective maintenance schedules, minor works and improvements, supporting capital projects in collaboration with the Area Site Manager.
- Manage facilities-related resources, including ordering consumables, supporting budget control and ensuring value for money.
- Work closely with the Principal and Business Support Manager to meet the operational needs of the school.

What are we looking for?
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
